Monolayer lines are being replaced with three, five, seven and even nine layer lines. The reason for co extrusion are discussed along
with an understanding of the function of each of the layers relative to performance and cost for several polymers types.

Multilayer hybrid ethylene and propylene solutions for high abuse films will be reviewed with specific examples on down gauging films in heavy duty shipping sacks, frozen food applications and industrial bulk packaging.
