Workshop on Plastic Film & Bag Recycling Solutions

Wed, Mar 30, 2011 - Wed, Mar 30, 2011

We would like to invite all plastic film companies to participate in a follow up session on  program development for greater plastic film recycling on March 30, 2011.

We have changed the format for the meeting. We will now be using the services of the Secor Group to provide meeting locations, facilitation and videoconferencing to bring together company representatives at different locations across Canada.  We are doing this so that we can elicit your ideas and develop a plan on how greater amounts of plastic film can be recycled, by engaging as many company representatives from the supply chain.

You are invited to join the meeting by going to the following Secor offices:

    • Toronto – 390 Bay Street, Suite 2400 from 11:00am to 2:10pm
    • Montreal – 555 Rene-Levesque Blvd. West, 9th Floor from 11:00am to 2:10pm
    • Vancouver – 999 Canada Place, Suite 550 from 8:00am to 11:10am

The first meeting on January 26th elicited many good ideas for greater film recycling. It was a successful session in terms of participation, engagement and interaction. The group deliberated on the impediments to a higher recycling rate from different perspectives, discussed potential solutions and firmed up 5 actions to be taken immediately.

On March 30, we will report back on our findings and progress with respect to the 5 action items and together chart next steps.  This upcoming meeting will include presentations on film plastic sorting technologies as well as perspectives from brand owners and stewardship organizations on the use of post consumer film. A fuller agenda has been attached for your review. We welcome your participation in this next meeting.
