Collection of plastic packaging for recycling has evolved significantly over the years.  New markets for collected plastic packaging is also evolving. The number of companies in the  recycling field has more than tripled over the last ten years. Over the same period, the plastics industry has invested millions of dollars in reprocessing and markets across North America.   

CPIA promotes the recycling of a broad range of plastic packaging in municipal collection programs and conducts demonstrations and ongoing research to expand both collection and markets for post-consumer plastics.
