Film Recovery Working Group
CPIA has a Film Recovery Working Group comprised of representatives who are retailers, brandowners, plastic converters, municipalities and recycling operators. The Group was formed pursuant to the mutual desire of the CPIA and PFMAC to bring stakeholders together to help identify collaborative actions to increase the diversion of plastic film from landfills through recycling and recovery.
In 2011, the Working Group had 3 workshop meetings which were professionally facilitated by Secor Group. The Group is working on the following 3 projects:
- Developing and testing consumer communication campaigns to increase consumer participation in film collection programs.
- Developing an ICI film recycling business model to expand film recovery in more commercial generators and to supply reprocessors with film feed-stocks in Canada.
- Investigating new technology to increase the efficiency of sorting films in Multi Material Curbside Recycling Sorting Facilities.
We will be having 3 Working Group workshop meetings in 2012.
