Anti-Litter
Litter is a growing problem around the globe. The Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA) is committed to eradicating litter and believes that litter – be it plastic or any other material – does not belong in Canada’s parks and waterways. As such, CPIA has developed several programs designed to change littering behaviour, like the annual Anti-Littering Calendar Contest and its support of anti-litter initiatives such as the TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup and Earth Day.
Not only is litter unsightly and of danger to man and wildlife, but it also wastes valuable resources that could be put to better use through established waste management programs like recycling.
It takes less than nine 2-litre plastic soda bottles to make one adult extra-large T-shirt. Littering eliminates the opportunity to recycle plastics into valuable new products.
