Dr. Mohini Sain is an academic and entrepreneur with 25 years career in polymer and industrial bioproducts sector, and heads the Centre for Biocomposites and Biomaterials Processing at University of Toronto.
He started his career in 1983 at Tata Cables and continued his direct industrial career until 1994, when he switched his consulting job with Aspen Corporation, St Paul, Minnesota to an academic career in Canadian University.
Since that time he has served three different universities and been appointed as adjunct professor with several universities nationally and internally.
He continued to provide leadership in academia and technology commercialization to industry by actively involving himself in the creation of flagship programs such as Canadian Natural Composite Council, ISO Standardization committee for Nanotechnology, BIOCAR, and Ontario BioAuto Council.
Editor of multiple books, creators of spin-off companies, authors of hundreds of publications and patents, Mohini holds a degree in Polymer Engineering from IIT, India and a PhD in chemical technology from Technical University, Bratislava, received honorary doctorate degree in 2009 and received several national and international awards for his contribution to academia and industry.
His contribution to globalization of research is noteworthy.
At present he runs industry led academic programs in Brazil, India, China, Sweden and Thailand.
He was the founder president of Greencore Composite Inc., a U of T based startup company and with his leadership his students have started three more companies including a Nanotech company commercializing nanocellulose products.
Professor Sain is member of several academic societies, journals editorial and industry boards.
